Week 14 and 5 days Belly Picture

I really gotta start doing these on the weekly changeover. :)

So, looking at this pict, I look smaller. It must be the slimming red. Baby's in there. I've got a recording of the heartbeat but can't seem to put it on the blog. If you want to hear, send me an e-mail. LOST is on in 30 min, Raendi is out shoveling snow, and I'm needing a Popsicle. More later...

Baby Bean

Since we aren't finding out if it's a boy or a girl Raendi and I have decided that we are going to make a concentrated effort to equal-opportunity daydream. Not just pink bunnies, blue puppies too. Not just heart wrenching-ly cute bows, but knee weakening tiny little baseball hats. Not just tiny little ballet slippers... umm, well if our little boy wanted to take ballet, I'd have no problem with that. :)
Our 14 1/2 week OB appt went fine. HB 152, my blood pressure and weight are still great, nothing to report. Our next appt is the big ultrasound. woo hoo!!

The Belly

Yes, I'm belly obsessed. Frankly it's the one thing that makes this whole "gonna be parents" thing real. Of course, I'm still skeptical about the baby scene. There's too much stuff, too much to think about, not enough common sense. (I have got to stop reading about mommyhood!) And I can't get beyond the week to week belly watch.
I've got another OB appt tomorrow. The monthly pee in a cup, baby heartbeat (gotta remember to bring my recorder for this one), and pow wow with the Dr. Topic of the day: episeotomys and epidurals. Raendi's skipping this on in order to come to the next which will probably be the big ultrasound with pictures of every little detail of the Bean. We are holding steadfast with our veto on learning the sex of the kid. Of course there is the slight chance that we might catch glimpse of something (or not catch glimpse of something) during the US, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. I'm still convinced based on superstitious evidence based off of conception date and gut feeling that it's a girl. But would be happy with a boy too, if only to justify buying one of those pee pee tee pees. More tomorrow if I learn anything new. Till then...

Week 13 (and 5 days) Belly Picture

Today I was having those amazing little moments where I'd stop what I was doing, put my hand on my belly and think. I know that baby is now moving around, breathing, swallowing, and doing his or her little baby thing. And even though I can't feel him or her yet, I can't help but say out loud, "Hey baby, whacha doing in there?"

I'm now fully in the happy glow of the 2nd trimester. My nausea and overwhelming desire for a nap all the time is gone. I still am a bit wishy washy about some foods but seem to be able to eat almost anything and besides feeling a bit lightheaded when I stand up too fast, we're doing well.

Raendi is completely psyched about our electrical work being done in the near future. And he is plotting even more house projects. (Insert evil laugh here)
The spring temperatures today made me crave painting the baby's room. I expect we both will be unbearable once spring actually makes it here with our incessant planning and puttering. But for now, one thing at a time.

Tea, Tea, Tea and more Tea

Tired of drinking water and cold from the basement and attic doors being open for the electrician, I'm rediscovering my love of tea. Warm, soothing, sweet and de-caffeinated. With milk, with honey, whatever, I love it.

So, we're now in our 14th week and I'm contemplating maternity pants. It's not that my belly is getting that big, even though it's definitely there. It's that my hips and butt are just getting wider which means my regular pants keep sliding down even with the bella band. I'm starting to look like one of those earth moms with the grand birthing hips. Too bad I have to sacrifice my waist for it. :)

The Promised Belly Pic

Yes, I really am as tired as I look in this picture, a long day plus a cold made for a very sleepy Mommy. And yes, the majority of that belly you see is nighttime bloating. But, I swear, somewhere in there is a baby. 12 weeks 5 days... and counting! :)

The Weepies

With the departure of the random woozies and the mandatory naps comes the stage of uncontrollable weepies. A Gerber commercial, a Mary Oliver poem, normally it would invoke a brief moment of awe and then I'd be happily on my way. Now, it's full scale weepies complete with a quick sob. It's hormone fueled sentimentality at it's best and I'll take the warm mushys over the cranky grumpies any day. (And I bet Raendi would say the same!)

And, in other news: we are officially outed a la Facebook. What an interesting virtual world we live in. :)
